Sovann Phoum: "The Golden Village"

The name "Sovann Phoum" translates to "The Golden Village". At Sovann Phoum, that is our dream: a golden future for all Cambodian families.

Background
The organisation was originally a part of an integrated program by a French NGO, "Enfants et Developpements" in 1991. With the help of this NGO, Sovann Phoum was officially born on the 10th of April, 2000 as a Cambodian NGO. Today, Sovann Phoum is a non-government, non-political, non-religious and non-profit organisation, working to promote the well-being and development of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, with a focus on children and women, through socio-economic programs.

Our Vision is a Cambodian society where disadvantaged citizens, women and children have an opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and income generating activities.
Our Mission is to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged families, with a focus on women and children, by supporting their access to education, skills training, job opportunities, and micro-financing.

Our Goals

  • We work towards giving children access to education, receiving better health care, safety and protection.
  • We want to contribute to reducing poverty for the disadvantaged and the vulnerable youth in both urban and rural slum areas.
  • We strive to alleviate the extreme poverty of families through our micro-credit and savings services.
